Job Summary

A position is available in the Billing Department for a Billing Functional Analyst. The Billing Functional Analyst reports to the Billing Supervisor and is responsible for reviewing issues resulting from billing, meter reading, customer services; determines how issues occur (user or system error), finds scope of problem, resolves issues, and implements measures to ensure problem does not continue.  Works directly with SAP Consultants, IT Programmer/Developer and Mangers in Customer Services.  In addition, monitors large meters and provides testing for all rate changes (new configuration and price changes), acquisitions and process changes.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Identifies issues and isolates problems within SAP in areas of ECC, CRM, and Mobile and determines if issue is caused by employee or within the technology.
  • Analyze problems for IT programmer and consultant, from the front-end user’s perspective for programmers and developers.  Pinpoints issues, assists with further analysis and testing of the system for full resolution.
  • Understands and documents work processes amongst multiple departments including Customer Service, Collections, Nightly Batch, Service and Meter Reading.
  • Understands interdepartmental working of SAP between functional module, finance, fica, device management, technical master data, mobile, customer service.
  • Recommends controls by identifying problems and writing improved procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison between IT and Customer Service/Billing/Collections.
  • Responsible for testing in all environments of ECC and CRM including but not limited to price changes, new rate configuration, process changes, and integrated processes with other areas.
  • Directly involved in new acquisitions and account creation.
  • Understands the goals of the employees in the business and then determines how to make system more useful.

Principal Responsibilities Continued

  • Responsible for large meter and large revenue account billing. Reviews, corrects, and monitors reading/billing accuracy on all large meters and large revenue accounts.
  • Works with Device Management owner to ensure accuracy of meter reading/billing on specific register groups and number of dials.
  • Maintain familiarity with applicable PURA and other state and local regulations.
  • Identify potential computer system, inter- and intra-department workflow or scheduling problems, and identify solutions to discuss with Supervisor for resolution.
  • Understands fire line billing for all private and public fire charges.
  • Understands wastewater billing and operand use.
  • Manages public fire charge billing, yearly update to public accounts and town notification.

Preferred Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of personal computer operations; Microsoft Office
  • Thorough understanding of SAP, customer accounts receivable, billing processes, meter to cash processes.
  • Understanding of billing system and its links to the general ledger system.  Must know when to advise Supervisor of billing issues and material adjustments which will impact the reporting of monthly revenues.
  • Understanding of impact of Billing on Finance.
  • Independent decision making frequently required; special situations referred to supervisor; account problems and issues must be carefully analyzed to determine the cause and proper adjustments made. Corrective measures may also involve advising service dept., or customer service of necessary follow-up work.  Some situations may require contacting the customer or referring system errors for further research.  Each situation must be reviewed and may range in scope from a few dollars to several thousand dollars. This task is conducted with little supervisory intervention.
  • Must be familiar with the various meter sizes, number of reading digits by meter size and fees to properly analyze a billing error. 

Education/Certifications

  • Applicant must possess a high school diploma.
  • A bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

Salary

  • Job is classified as a non-exempt position with an starting hourly rate of $26.50 to $32.25.
  • This role is 100% on site, working out of the Monroe, CT office.
  • Hours for this role are 8:00AM to 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.
  • After 3 months of successful employment, this role will be eligible for a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office/2 days remote).
