Job Summary
The Supervisor, Distribution, East/West/Central Division reports directly to the Director, Utility Operations. This position schedules, coordinates and provides field supervision of activities and staff responsible for one or more Distribution functions. The Supervisor, Distribution Maintenance reviews, resolves and makes recommendations to the Director, Utility Operations on operational improvements related to the Distribution function in the E/W/C Division. Duties and responsibilities include after-hours emergency support for field operations.
Principal Responsibilities
- Supervises and directs the activities of staff including work assignment, performance evaluation, and employee development; participates in employee selection, disciplinary action, and complaint resolution.
- Schedules, coordinates and provides field supervision of staff involved in maintenance and supports the Supervisor, Distribution Operations on break fix and new construction activities of distribution system.
- Executes and maintains required maintenance program in accordance with the regulatory agency requirements in Connecticut (PURA).
- Plan, prioritize, assign, and review all activities related to the Company’s maintenance programs (including, hydrants, valves, and flushing).
- Ensures all maintenance notifications are generated properly and assigned as required to support the annual department metrics.
- Maintain annual maintenance plan and associated work orders to ensure time tracking and metrics are coded and logged properly for ease of period reporting.
- Develop and maintain all Flushing Plans for assigned areas and maintain field records to document established flushing cycle with the CT DPH.
- Expedites work-flow, diagnoses and remedies day-to-day problems, assigns and instructs field employees.
- Establish schedules and methods for providing maintenance services: identify resource needs: review needs with Director, Utility Operations and allocate resources accordingly.
- Participate in the development of department goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures. Make recommendations for implementing and improvements to existing standards and SOP’s. Monitors work activities to ensure compliance and UOps department productivity.
- Interfaces on a daily basis with our customer service department to resolve customer complaints for distribution system operations.
- Insures maintenance of parts, materials and equipment to allow continuous operation.
- Supports the Supervisor, Distribution Operations to help manage the emergency response to system failures with contractors or department emergency response crews.
- Ensures proactive and positive labor relations, providing a climate where employees are encouraged to express views and receive answers in a timely manner.
- Ensures that employees are provided with and maintain a progressive occupational health and safety program, in accordance with Company policy.
- Required to maintain records, logs, maps, tap cards, etc.
- Responsible for maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly communication with the E/W/C Operations coordinating system operations, addressing all maintenance activity programs
- Supports the Supervisor, Distribution Operations to help perform inspection and supervision of contractors involved in emergency repair or capital programs.
- Work with the Supervisor, Distribution Operations to develop a cross- training schedule to ensure all Distribution Department skills are developed in support of obtaining/maintaining a D3 license.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Requirements
- A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in the utility environment, including two years of lead or supervisory experience.
- Excellent communications, troubleshooting, and employee relations skills are required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to act in a self-directed manner and make field decisions with minimal supervisory input.
Education/Certifications
- Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Salary
- Job is classified as an exempt position with an annual salary range of $83,440 - $104,300
