Job Summary

A position is available in the Eastern Division of Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut.  This position will support the Service and Watershed Environmental Management departments with demolitions and tap shutoff work, site inspections, and communications; as well as back office support activities related to service line leak follow-up, periodic meter changes, projects, non-compliance work and other related activities. This position requires a strong understanding of SAP, proficiency in excel (macros and pivot tables) and the Microsoft office suite as well as excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail is required as well as excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Understanding of utility rules and regulations applicable to the Service and distribution related activities.

  • Communicating with customers and contractors on Demolition and Tap Shut off requirements.

  • Onsite inspections to ensure compliance of regulated procedures.

  • Scheduling planned work for TSO and to verify compliance.

  • Responding to customers/contractors on demolition inquiries.

  • Tracking and following up on inquiries.

  • Creating demolition/disconnection letters.

  • Service Line Leak follow up: Task edit report, customer contact, send letter, coordination with Customer Advocate, verify repair/disconnection.

  • Non-compliance tasks related to Demolitions, and Conservation.

  • Creating and presenting Power Point information sessions for Demolition and Conservation programs.

  • Support Service and Distribution departments with administrative duties in support of both departments’ business processes, including monitoring of Teams, back office service reviews, scheduling of field technicians and other administrative duties as assigned.

  • Record and compile Demolition and Conservation data in Excel that can be sorted using pivot tables and ability to translate that information into graphs and tables to summarize results.

  • Completing Demolition, Conservation, Service Line Leak Notifications in SAP.

  • Work with multiple departments for program improvements/enhancements.

  • Manage multiple MS inbox and folders.

  • Work with service technicians to respond to field observations related to Demolitions, Tap Shut Offs, and Service Line Leaks.

  • Demand Management Tasks up to 50% of time during peak period.

  • Reports to Environmental Management Office up to twice a week. 

  • Participant and administration for the Conservation Committee.

  • Works to improve demand management new and existing process.

  • Coordinates hiring, training, and supervision of multiple summer interns to assist with the demand management program. 

  • Coordinates with IT to ensure the automation of the violation process. 

  • Creating mail merge letters according to violation.

  • Correcting violation submissions in SAP.

  • Provides consumption data and works with the Aquarion Water Irrigation Assessor to monitor and track variances.

  • Maintain up-to-date data regarding variances and violations. 

  • All other administrative duties

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in planning, operations structure, and understanding of the Company’s business processes related to water service and utility operations.

  • Solid understanding of capacity planning utilizing SAP is preferred. 

  • Ability to work with multiple enterprise systems such as SAP, CRM, and GIS are required.

  • Excellent communications (both written and oral), customer-service, troubleshooting, creative problem-solving skills, analytical, and organizational skills are required. 

  • Must be able to initiate and work through conflict to achieve desired change.

  • Must also be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize, and meet commitments. 

  • Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives is required as well as the ability to work independently as well as with work groups.

  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in performing duties.

  • Must be able to work effectively with others in order   to support inter- departmental processes.

Education/Certifications

  • Applicant must possess a high school diploma.

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in business, management, or information technologies, preferred.

Salary

  • Job is classified as a non-exempt position with a weekly salary range of $941.00 to $1147.50.

  • This role is 100% on site, working out of the Bridgeport office and the Easton office.

  • Hours for this role are 8:00AM to 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.
